THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple

I strive to live by the KISS principle. My methodology is always using the simplest, yet most effective ways to get results. Overcomplicating a reef introduces too many failure points, and maintenance routines.  There are many ways to be successful, I just found the most success in the simple approaches to reef keeping. I still leverage controllers, but the amount of energy I put into my systems has to be minimal.

Stop Tinkering

Keep It Simple

Tinkering tends to result in whiplash that stresses coral and other livestock. If you make a change leave it be and carefully evaluate the result over 3-5 weeks before adjusting or making new changes. A single change at a time is the safest bet to success.

Test The Water

Keep It Simple

Test The Water

Test your water and also send in ICP analysis to a trusted lab. I prefer ATI in germany though it tends to take longer. Ensure you aren't lacking trace elements, and to avoid contaminants. I run lots of carbon and change it regularly to keep the water clear and odor free.
